MT DIFFICULTY CENTRAL OTAGO PINOT NOIR 2008
La Vino Rating
A popular red from Mt Difficulty's vineyards nestled alongside the banks of the Kawarau river in Bannockburn. This wine reflects the nature of a warmer vintage displaying great
concentration and balance; black cherry and blackberry dominate the
aroma and these are underpinned by Christmas cake spice and liquorice.
The wine has a dark concentrated front palate, which displays these
same characters in abundance. The mid palate is fleshy and well
textured. The wine finishes with a lovely velvety combination of
tannin, fruit and acidity. Usually $44.99 per bottle!

KUMEU RIVER PINOT GRIS 2008
La Vino Rating
The 2008 vintage was excellent for Pinot Gris. As a result the wine was able to achieve the level of rich concentration and luscious texture
that we look for in this variety. This is certainly a very layered and
complex Pinot Gris. The aromas have typical peach and stone fruit notes tinged with the
floral spiciness that we have come to expect from Pinot Gris. On the
palate the wine is rich and complex with lovely length of flavour. It
is delicious now but will no doubt start looking at its best around
February or March next year as has been the case with most vintages of
this wine in the past. Usually $28.99 per bottle!

The Astrolabe "Voyage" wines are made in a classic Marlborough style, emphasising the varietal intensity created by leafy vineyards, ripe fruit and cool-climate grape growing. The 2008 Voyage Sauvignon Blanc has powerful aromas of gooseberry, capsicum, passionfruit and lime peel. On the palate flavours of goosberry, passionfruit and currant flavours are predominant. This wine would be a fine accompaniment with summer salads, Thai noodles, seafood and especially green-lipped mussel dishes. Usually $23.99 per bottle!
