WAIMARIE GISBORNE CHARDONNAY 2008

  

By Steven Nobilo.  The Waimarie 2008 Chardonnay is rich and full-bodied, with a soft, creamy texture and a crisp, lingering finish.  Sourced from the renowned Judd vineyard in Gisborne, this wine is straw yellow in colour, with a bouquet of ripe stone fruit, overlaid with toasted oak aromas.  The palate exhibits peach and nectarine flavours, layered with butterscotch and vanilla oak complexities.

The Hay Paddock Harvest Man Syrah is the single-vineyard, hand-made wine which we believe demonstrates the best of New Zealand’s - and Waiheke Island’s - ability to produce a red wine style that expresses optimum ripeness and varietal character. It is a wine designed to complement food and, apart from private trade clients, is currently available through leading restaurants and fine wine specialists throughout New Zealand and overseas. Annual production is presently limited to 2000 cases.

This wine displays classic hints of of black currant and cassis, backed by subtle floral and white pepper aromas.  The 2008 Harvest Man Syrah is a seductive example of the Syrah variety from one of the worlds most exclusive regions.


The 2007 vintage of this wine won Gold at the International Wine Challenge, London 2009 and was selected as Wine of the Year by the Best of the Best 2009 Wine Guide.
